Fire and Life Safety Division
Our mission is to prevent the loss of life and property from fire and explosion.
We provide comprehensive fire and life safety services for the Central Mat-Su Fire Service Area (FSA), including:

Fire and life safety plan reviews

Inspections and code compliance
-
Fire prevention programs
-
Public education and outreach
All commercial structures within the fire service area where people work, gather, or spend time are subject to plan review, permitting, and annual inspection requirements.
Residential properties that are triplexes or smaller are exempt from these requirements. Once a business is established inside the structure, it is no longer exempt.
Building Permits ARE REQUIRED In the Mat-Su Borough!
Which office has jurisdiction over my property? To check your property FSA, click the "Find FSA with MyProperty in the upper right corner of this site. If the building's FSA is 130 Central Mat-Su, click on the first logo below. If the building FSA is City of Palmer, click on the second logo below. All other areas in the borough fall under the State Fire Marshal's office, click on the third logo. You may also contact the Fire Code Office at either link on the right.
