Utilities in the Mat-Su Borough
The Borough does not offer utilities for most areas.
Trash and Recycling
The borough operates the central landfill and many transfer transfer sites, however trash pickup is done by private companies. The City of Palmer also offers refuse service in some areas.
Electricity, Internet, Fuel Oil, Gas
The borough does not offer any of these utilities as service. These are operated by private companies and local co-ops.

The Borough operates Sewer and Water utilities for Talkeetna. The cities of Wasilla and Palmer offer this for some areas.

A Utility Permit is required when installing, maintaining, or modifying utility infrastructure—such as water, sewer, gas, electric, or telecom—within public rights-of-way This helps ensure safe and coordinated development while protecting public assets.
