2026 Borough Wide Weight Restrictions
Within the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, roads have the following weight restrictions:
MONDAY, June 1, 2026 at 12:01 AM Until further notice
Partial Road Restrictions - Borough roads in the Northern Region are limited to 50% legal axle load.
Weight restrictions in the core area - From the Parks Hwy at the Little Su to the Glenn Hwy at Chickaloon River Bridge - Will be 100% legal axle load starting June 1, 2026 with some exceptions. The following roads will remain at 50% legal axle load until further notice: Aurora Lane, Back Acres Ave, Beverly Lakes Rd, Burma Rd, Candywine Rd, Captain Cir, Dawson Dr, Donovan Way, Echo Lake Dr, Jamie Maire Cir, Lewis Loop, Mars Ave, McNeese Pkwy, Rian Ave, River Dr, Papoose Twins Rd, Pond Lily, Peacefull Lane, Sassy Ave (The unpaved portion), and Theodore Dr.50% legal axle load
(Restrictions may also be enforced on city-maintained roads in the City of Houston, Palmer and Wasilla. Contact their Public Works Dept. for more information.)
Axle loading limits are expressed as a percentage of allowable axle weight defined in 17 AAC 25.013.
Weight restriction exemptions that apply to ADOT roads also apply to Borough roads. Additional emergency restrictions may be applied. Emergency restrictions will be advertised in the Frontiersman and posted on our seasonal weight restrictions information page.
