Community Growth Solutions Study (2025)

Study Overview

The Community Growth Solutions Study examined transportation networks and land use in four growing areas ("sub-areas") of the Borough. It recommends wise investments to improve both physical infrastructure (such as roads), as well as MSB policies or practices that impact how development happens within the Borough. The Study will inform future planning efforts related to both land use and transportation, however, the study as a whole is NOT adopted as an official MSB Plan.

Four Sub-Areas Studied

  • University Medical District

  • Fishhook Triangle

  • Bogard/Seldon Corridor (resulted in the 2025 Bogard/Seldon Corridor Access Management Plan - see link in sidebar)

  • Knik-Goose Bay/Big Lake

Primary Study Goals

  • Development ensures efficient regional mobility in Core Area
  • Strategic coordination of land and transportation planning
  • Advance transportation planning initiatives
The Community Growth Solutions Study was presented by the MSB Planning and Land Use Director to a joint meeting of the Planning Commission and Assembly on October 14, 2025.
